Offered as a coupe and as a sedan, the 2006 Infiniti G35 is sure to be a top seller. Since the introduction of the first G35 in 2003, its popularity seems to have grown at an exponential rate. The rear-wheel drive coupe, aimed at the driving enthusiast with an appreciation for sports cars, offers a 298-hp V-6 with a six-speed manual transmission, and a 280-hp V-6 with a five-speed automatic with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching. Four-wheel independent suspension with aluminum components make the G35 a very quick coupe. The sedan, standard with rear-wheel drive, offers the same V-6 engine options, and also comes with four-wheel independent suspension. An all-wheel drive G35x is available with an advance traction system. With good looks, plenty of power, and various convenience packages on the table, it is hard to imagine a driver who can’t be matched with a G35.

Its flexed bicep styling looks like nothing else in its class, the handling is excellent, there’s power everywhere you look, and it’s supremely satisfying to drive. Comparisons to BMW’s 3 Series coupe are inevitable, and the G37 more than just holds its own, it throws down, kicking sand in the BMW’s face and challenging it for the luxury sport coupe crown. Whether the Infiniti bests the BMW boils down to extremely fine points, but it’s far and away one of the strongest contenders against the 3 Series in a long, long time.

Leading the enhancements to the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe is the first-ever application of the new 3.7-liter V6 engine with VVEL (for Variable Valve Event and Lift). Estimated at 330 horsepower and 270 lb-ft of torque, the new “VQ37VHR” contains approximately 35 percent new and unique parts from the new VQ35HR engine introduced in the 2007 G35 Sedan just last year. Both the Coupe’s VQ37VHR and the Sedan’s VQ35HR engines are based on the award-winning VQ engine series, named one of the “Ten Best Engines” by Ward’s Auto World magazine for 13 consecutive years.
